Welcome to the Town of Weyburn, Virginia’s tribute site. Once known as the “Bigfoot Capital of the East,” Weyburn rose to fame in 1979 following sensational Bigfoot sightings. However, the truth behind these events revealed a hoax that ultimately led to the town’s bankruptcy and disappearance. This site serves as a historical remembrance of Weyburn and its people, who were unknowingly caught in the aftermath of a false legend. We honor their legacy and the town that, though no longer exists, will never be forgotten.
